James has worked in the environmental services, land management and agribusiness sectors for over 25 years, with a career spanning commercial, operational and technical roles. With formal training in science (to PhD level), and business and innovation management (to Masters level), James has been at the forefront of greenhouse emissions reduction, climate change, regenerative land management and carbon projects. Within Australia, he has worked with large industrials, government, indigenous landholders and farmers to undertake extensive on-ground land suitability and carbon project eligibility assessments, establish and manage over 50 carbon projects under the Carbon Farming Initiative, manage the production and sale of a significant pipeline of Australian Carbon Credit Units and manage the successful delivery of some of Australia’s largest land restoration and reforestation projects.
Internationally, James has also worked on renewables, forestry and carbon projects developed under the Clean Development Mechanism, New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme and Californian Cap and Trade system. Combined, the initiatives and projects that James has played a lead role in (to date) are delivering over 10 million tonnes of emissions abatement.
