  • Climate Positive represents TEM’s origination division and is responsible for sourcing, developing and managing carbon projects, with established project portfolios split between its domestic and international operations. 
  • Climate Positive’s origination pipeline is comprised of Australian Human Induced Regeneration HIR and Environmental Planting, and International REDD+, and Cookstoves projects.
Your team

This role is an integral part of the Climate Positive Domestic team. You will be reporting to the Technical Director – Climate Positive and working closely with the Senior Carbon Projects Manager. This role has no direct reports. 

Reporting line

The role reports to the Technical Director and is a member of the Climate Positive team. 

Purpose of role

Deliver all aspects of carbon project development and implementation including:  

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of carbon project development, including feasibility assessments, project design, monitoring, reporting, and regulatory submissions. 
  • Prepare, review, and interpret technical documentation, including feasibility studies, ACCU forecasts, environmental impact assessments, and carbon project design and monitoring reports. 
  • Develop and analyse environmental and carbon modelling data, including FullCAM outputs, to quantify environmental impacts from projects and project abatement potential. 
  • Review and interpret environmental and carbon methodologies, assessing project requirements in line with regulatory and sustainability standards. 
  • Generate and analyse carbon abatement and long-term environmental performance forecasts to support sustainable project outcomes. 
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental legislation, project methodologies, and regulatory obligations, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and authorities. 
  • Undertake environmental impact assessments and risk analyses for new project opportunities to evaluate environmental risks and sustainability outcomes. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental and land management plans to meet sustainability objectives and project requirements. 
  • Provide technical guidance on environmental risk mitigation strategies, including regeneration checks, gateway audits, and sustainability best practices in line with government regulations. 
  • Advise on, develop and manage the environmental management aspects of carbon projects including co-benefit initiatives and resource conservation strategies. 
  • Manage communications and reporting with regulatory authorities and industry bodies regarding environmental performance, compliance, and project approvals. 
  • Collect, synthesis, and analyse environmental data, including carbon abatement metrics, land regeneration data, and monitoring outcomes, ensuring accurate reporting and interpretation. 
  • Coordinate spatial analysis and data management using GIS to monitor environmental conditions, land regeneration, and compliance with regulatory frameworks. 
  • Develop and maintain environmental management tools and systems, including GIS platforms and data analysis software, to optimise sustainability outcomes. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging environmental policies, carbon methodologies, and sustainability best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with industry standards.

Your skills & experience

The successful candidate will have sound business acumen and conceptual thinking skills whilst being passionate about being part of a high performing team that has a reputation and track record within the carbon market.   

Key attributes include: 

  • 3+ years’ project management experience with Carbon Projects is essential.  
  • High working knowledge of the Australian carbon market, including the development of projects in key methods and systems is essential. 
  • Excellent client liaison skills, business development and negotiating skills. 
  • Highly organised, ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, work in a team environment and influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Experience with relevant software and digital tools including FullCAM , GIS or QGIS, Esri and Avenza is essential  
Your qualification

Master’s degree in a related area such as Environmental Sciences, Environmental management, Earth Science, Conservation Science or Ecology
