Ian Dobbs

Head of Wholesale

Ian Dobbs was appointed TEM’s Head of Wholesale in July 2023. Ian joined TEM in 2021, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in domestic and international financial markets in the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand.

Throughout his career in trading and risk management, Ian has managed risk in a wide variety of markets. This includes spending a decade in the banking industry running trading books focusing on bonds, short-term interest rates and currencies. For 5 years, Ian worked for a London-based propriety trading house where he traded futures contracts on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange. This role also took him to Cape Town, South Africa, where he went on to co-found a new derivatives trading company.

Ian’s deep experience in the pricing of financial products, market making and managing risk has been gained over a period that has included key financial events, such as the Global Financial Crisis, Asian Currency Crisis and the ‘Dot.com bubble’.

Ian’s role at TEM combines his passion for the environment and desire for climate action with his financial market expertise, applied to carbon markets, which are a critical part of the solution to the climate crisis.

Ian holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Finance) Degree from Massy University.
