Tasman Environmental Markets (TEM) wins category and secures place on AFR Sustainable Leaders List 2024 for first-of-its-kind online carbon marketplace

Leading Asia-Pacific carbon offsetting solutions provider, TEM, has secured a place on the 2024 Australian Financial Review’s (AFR) Sustainability Leaders list winning in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications category for its digital carbon credit marketplace, TEM Online.

The AFR Sustainability Leaders list celebrates Australian companies that are making real progress in tackling sustainability challenges, while delivering business value. The entries were judged over two phases utilising a rigorous methodology that assessed qualitive and quantitative data to determine the value delivered by the project and the leadership and business impact demonstrated.

Launched in April 2023, TEM Online is the first-of-its-kind for the Australian carbon credit market, providing businesses of any size, particularly small-medium businesses, access to high-integrity environmental projects across the Asia Pacific region, including Australian Carbon Credit Units, rainforest conservation projects and Renewable Energy Certificates, all via an online marketplace.

TEM Online currently enables the purchase of smaller volumes of carbon credits – between 50 and 10,000 tonnes. TEM is now focused on expanding the depth of its marketplace solutions so that its larger corporate customers and heavy emitters can better manage the risk associated with project selection and address Scope 3 emissions.

“We are honoured to be included on the AFR Sustainability Leaders List for 2024. It’s a testament to the impact TEM Online is having for customers, the environment and communities across the Asia-Pacific,” said Adrian Enright, CEO, TEM.

Based on the selection criteria, what sets TEM Online apart is its fast turnaround service that has driven operational changes from a business perspective and provides an industry-first offering to SMEs. It does this by reducing the traditional multi-week contracting process down to just 48 hours.

“We had smaller businesses coming to us wanting to offset their carbon footprint, but there wasn’t a solution right for them. TEM Online supports these businesses on their broader decarbonisation and sustainability journey, and gives them access to the same high-quality carbon credits as larger organisations.”

Adrian continued: “Through TEM Online alone, more than 100 customers have invested over $1.8 million of carbon finance into a range of climate action projects, which have avoided or removed over 100,000 tonnes of CO2.”

You can find TEM Online featured in the 2024 Sustainability Leaders list in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications category in both the print and online version of the Australian Financial Review for Tuesday 9 July, 2024.
