Carbon Projects Manager

Your team: Climate Positive. No direct reports.

Purpose of role

This role supports the development of Climate Positive’s carbon projects. Working across domestic projects you will be exposed to all aspects of carbon project establishment, implementation, and compliance management. You will work across the Climate Positive team to deliver high quality, high integrity offset outcomes. To deliver technical inputs and project management activities associated with the origination and implementation of carbon offset projects in Australia and Asia – Pacific.

Key responsibilities

Deliver all aspects of carbon project development and implementation including:

  • Project management, including project planning, reporting and submission of credit applications and documentation required for project audits.
  • Prepare technical documents including feasibility analysis reports, Project Design Documents, Validation and Monitoring Reports and other reports that may be required and associated credit applications.
  • Prepare FullCAM modelling data.
  • Review applicable methodologies and assess project requirements.
  • Generate carbon abatement calculations and long-term issuance forecasting.
  • Assist with compliance management including with project specific management plans, methods and regulatory obligations with the Carbon and Land Operations Director.
  • Conduct due diligence assessments for new project opportunities, including desktop environmental assessments.
  • Assist in the implementation of project management plans.
  • Provide advice on technical risk mitigation strategies, including advice relating to regeneration checks and/or gateway audit requirements.
  • Assist in the development of environmental management and co- benefits programs.
  • Manage communications with regulatory bodies (i.e. the CER) in relation to credit applications, gateway audits and other relevant project related queries where required.
  • Review, analyse, interpret, and manage project related data.
  • Work with the GIS Specialist to develop, analyse and manage spatial data in accordance with the regulatory requirements applicable to projects under management.
  • Develop and manage software tools required for optimal project management outcomes such as ArcGIS, AgriWebb, and Esri
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on project methodologies and standard requirements that are relevant to TEM and the policies and requirements of project registration and issuance entities.

Key experience required from applicants for this role:
  • 5+ years’ project management experience in a relevant sector.
  • Good working knowledge of the Australian carbon market, including key methods and systems.
  • Excellent client liaison skills, business development and negotiating skills.
  • Highly organised, ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, work in a team environment and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in running FullCAM models is an advantage.
