Powering climate-friendly data

Through the Qantas Future Planet partnership, TEM is supporting Fujitsu in offering its data centre customers the opportunity to offset emissions from their consumption of electricity.

Fujitsu will also be offsetting emissions from fuel consumed in its fleet of nearly 200 vehicles across Australia and New Zealand. The vehicles are used by Field Engineers who perform onsite maintenance and repair services for customers across the region.

Offset funds will directly support projects throughout Oceania and around the world, including rainforest regeneration projects and renewable energy finance in India. The projects also result in a range of economic and social co-benefits to local communities, in line with Fujitsu’s continuous efforts to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The initiative is part of Fujitsu’s Climate & Energy strategy, aligned with their Science-Based Targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to zero.

“Carbon offsets provide Fujitsu data centre customers with an easy, low-cost option to reduce the environmental impact of their data centre footprint.”

We manage the energy-efficiency of our data centres closely to minimise both financial and environmental costs for our customers, with our NABERS-rated portfolio achieving efficiency of 35 per cent higher than the market average. The offset option gives our customers a new way to further reduce impacts and help customers meet their own environmental targets”.
