Director Sales Asia-Pacific

Purpose of role

We are looking for a Director Sales Asia-Pacific to join the Sales Team at TEM. This role, reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer and is newly established and holds significant importance in driving TEM’s mission and ambitious customer growth strategy forward. As the Director Sales Asia-Pacific, you will have responsibility for managing TEM’s customer portfolio and relationships with over 100 leading brands. In addition, you will be responsible for growing the customer portfolio through new digital and structured products and solutions with existing customers, and new customer acquisition across the Asia-Pacific. This position offers an exceptional chance to oversee a group of enthusiastic professionals’ instrumental in TEM’s growth as the foremost distributors of voluntary Australian carbon credits. They serve as a reliable conduit for globally significant carbon projects, facilitating their market access.

Key responsibilities

Sales strategy and implementation

  • Collaborate with the Chief Customer Officer and Head of Wholesale Trading to devise and execute TEM’s carbon offset sales strategy, emphasising expansion into new Asian carbon markets and enhancing TEM’s digital sales solution to establish industry leadership in end-to-end corporate offset transactions.
  • Define corporate sales objectives, performance targets, and annual budgets within the context of the carbon market and competitive landscape.
  • Lead a team across Australia and Singapore to execute the strategy effectively.

Customer relationship management

  • Oversee all corporate customer accounts for TEM, fostering strong relationships to maximise value across various aspects of the TEM business.
  • Cultivate relationships with key identified customers, contributing to the broader growth of TEM’s business.
  • Collaborate with sales managers in negotiations and contract discussions for spot and forward carbon offset deals.

General management

  • Evaluate the competitive dynamics of the carbon market and implement necessary adjustments to maintain TEM’s leading position.
  • Work with the key business partners to develop weekly and monthly reporting systems and tracking of performance and sales targets.
  • Partner with the Chief Customer Officer and Head of Wholesale Trading to ensure sales targets are achieved, making strategic adjustments as needed.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to execute sales campaigns and uphold high-quality sales support materials.
  • Provide support to sales managers into development and execute strategic customer planning.
Other duties

Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

Key experience required from applicants for this role:
  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (or equivalent experience). Post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and experience in carbon markets, or sustainability.
  • Significant experience in customer relationship management and track record of deal origination and execution.
  • Extensive customer contacts throughout the multiple industries, with a proven capability to originate new business and enhance existing relationships.
  • Familiarity across product capabilities in the carbon markets, or similar, including understanding of deal structuring and risk management.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in high-performing, fast-growing businesses.
  • Experience in engaging and building credibility and strong relationships with clients and an ability to anticipate client requirements.
  • Proficient in handling high-pressure situations and tight deadlines across various projects while consistently delivering exceptional work with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach, capable of working effectively both independently and collaboratively within a global team setting.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement capabilities, evidenced by the ability to effectively influence and communicate with diverse and senior stakeholders.
